After a great relaxing summer break members of the Carrigaline Gospel Choir are recharged and ready to go back to practice. Final confirmation preparation mass, 8pm 5th March 2011
Carrigaline Gospel Choir will be singing at the 8pm mass on Saturday 5th March in the Church of Our Lady & St John, Carrigaline. This will be the last of the preparation masses for those making their confirmation in Carrigaline this year. The Gospel Choir have enjoyed being a part of these preparations and we would like to extend our best wishes to all those who are preparing for confirmation.
Ecumenical Carol Service
On Sunday 19th December 2010, an ecumenical carol service took place in the Church of Our Lady & St. John, Carrigaline, Co. Cork, Ireland
Parishioners from St Mary’s Church of Ireland and Our Lady & St John, Catholic Church, joined together to hear readings, prayers and to sing Christmas carols. The music was led by Mr. Jim Kelly, Mr. Donal Power, Mr. Frank Garvey, the Carrigaline Folk Group, the Carrigaline Youth Choir and the Carrigaline Gospel Choir. Both Reverent David Armstrong and Fr Bertie O’Mahony spoke to the congregation and prayed that the two communities would continue to grow and that the friendship between them would remain strong.
Busy Autumn 2010 Term for Carrigaline Gospel Choir
The Carrigaline Gospel Choir have been very busy since they started back in September 2010. Their weekly practices are action packed as they prepare their material for the various occasions that they perform at.
On the first and third Saturday’s of the month at the 8pm vigil mass, in Carrigaline, you can hear the Gospel Choir sing at their regular bi monthly mass. Children preparing for confirmation in 2011 have also had the pleasure of hearing the choir sing at their preparation masses.
They recently joined forces with the Frankfield Gospel Choir to sing at mass in Carrigaline at the beginning of November. A number of extra practises for both Frankfield and Carrigaline choirs were required as they learned some of each other’s material.
Last Sunday’s regular mass goers at St. Patrick’s Church, Rochestown Road, heard Fr. Michael Keohane tell them ” we are blessed to have such wonderful singing in the seemingly gloomy times we are in,” as many of the Carrigaline Gospel Choir sang at 12.30pm mass for them.
December is a looking to be a busy month ahead – practicing Christmas songs, preparing new material and maybe a few extra performances. You can hear the Carrigaline Gospel Choir at Our Lady and St John’s Church, Carrigaline on Saturday next December 4th at 8pm mass.
Gospel Choir Singing Strong
The Carrigaline Gospel Choir has been busy over the last number of months with weekly practices for mass performances in Carrigaline and recently in Crosshaven. It has been privilege for the choir to be a part of the confirmation preparations. They sang with and for those being confirmed at the Saturday 8pm mass once a month since October last year. The members of the choir wish to extend their best wishes to all those being confirmed in the parish.
Last weekend the choir were very well received in St. Brigid’s Church, Crosshaven, at their Saturday evening mass celebrated by Archbishop Coveney. They were delighted to have been invited and look forward to singing there again. Meanwhile back in the Church of Our Lady and St John, Carrigaline, the Carrigaline Gospel Choir will be singing on Easter Sunday for 12.30 pm mass.

Carrigaline Gospel Choir
Over the Christmas season Carrigaline Gospel Choir were very busy indeed. On top of the weekly practice and twice monthly mass they were involved in a number of other events, beginning with entertaining at a COPE Christmas party in Glasheen. This was followed by a concert in Crosshaven church and the carol service in Carrigaline church, in which they participated with other choirs.
The choir wish to extend their gratitude to the management and staff of the Carrigaline shopping centre and to all who donated over €800 for St. Vincent de Paul and the HOPE foundation when the choir sang there before Christmas. The final performance of 2009 was at Christmas Eve mass in Carrigaline to a very appreciative congregation.

Carrigaline Gospel Choir
Carrigaline Gospel Choir has been busy since September, with a weekly practice and singing twice a month at the 8pm vigil mass on 1st and 3rd Saturdays. The gospel choir have been very well received when they coincide with the confirmation preparation masses and are in the middle of a busy Christmas schedule.
On Thursday last December 10th, the choir were delighted to have the opportunity to entertain at a COPE Christmas party in Glasheen. While the carols were easy to join with, the Gospel songs really got the crowd going and finished the party on a high. Meanwhile on Monday 14th they joined a number of other choirs in Crosshaven for a charity fundraiser.
The last few events of the year for the gospel choir are all in Carrigaline. On Wednesday 16th they will participate in the Carrigaline combined choirs carol service. Then, a lunch time performance from 12 noon to 2 pm on Saturday 19th in the Carrigaline Shopping Centre, where they have been gratefully allowed to collect for St. Vincent de Paul and HOPE. Finally, on Thursday December 24th, they sing for the Christmas Vigil mass at 8pm in Our Lady and St. John’s Church, Carrigaline. A number of very appropriate Christmas Gospel songs have been carefully selected to complement the popular carols, so if you’re there and know the words, please join in.
Carrigaline Gospel Choir
The Carrigaline Gospel Choir has been very busy since Christmas, meeting every week and singing twice a month in Carrigaline at the 8pm Saturday night mass. They have been practicing hard since January in preparation for Easter Sunday mass. Members of the congregation were very enthusiastic in their praise of the choir’s performance.
The choir will shortly be taking a well earned break for the summer. Then in September, auditions will take place for new members wishing to try out for the choir. Information will be posted on their website www.carrigalinegospelchoir.com
However the Lough parish have extended an invitation for the Carrigaline Gospel Choir to sing at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Lough Road, Cork City. So the last chance to hear them this season will be this Saturday, April 25th, at 7pm mass at the Lough Church. This will be their last recital before the summer.
Busy Christmas Season for Gospel Choir
On Saturday last, December 20th, Carrigaline Gospel Choir performed a
mixture of gospel music and Christmas carols in Carrigaline Shopping
Centre, raising over €1000 for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. They
received a very positive response, as well as very generous donations,
from the public. The choir would like to thank the management and
staff of Carrigaline Shopping Centre for organising and hosting this
event, the volunteer collectors and the public for giving so
generously to this worthy cause. The next performance of the
Carrigaline Gospel Choir is this Wednesday, Christmas Eve, at the 8pm
Christmas Vigil mass in the Church of Our Lady and St. John,
Carrigaline.
